From Intern to Executive: My Journey at DOCOsoft

Nicole is a marketing executive in our Dublin office, where she plays a vital role in our marketing and events team. She joined DOCOsoft in 2021 as an intern while pursuing her studies and has since advanced to her current position following her graduation, where she actively supports our marketing and strategic initiatives.

“During my final two years studying for a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management at TU Dublin, I was fortunate to undertake a 6-month work placement related to my chosen subjects. When the opportunity to do an internship at DOCOsoft came up, I was eager to apply, because it aligned with my focus in business studies, particularly in marketing. This internship not only complemented my academic learning but also allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting, giving me a solid foundation for my future career.

My favourite project I’ve worked on so far at DOCOsoft was the marketing and event coordination for our expansion into the Bermuda market. I had the opportunity to visit Bermuda, where I attended the Bermuda Risk Summit, a three-day conference. I had the opportunity to visit client sites to strengthen relationships and gain valuable insights to further our marketing strategy.”

What advice would you give to current interns and graduates?

  • Seize every opportunity that comes your way: Embrace all tasks, big or small, as they provide learning experiences that can shape your career. Each opportunity is a steppingstone toward your professional development.
  • Observe and learn from everyone around you: The workplace is filled with experienced professionals. Pay attention to their methods and strategies, as this will provide invaluable insights into your field.
  • Never hesitate to ask questions and seek clarity: Curiosity is crucial for growth. If something is unclear, ask questions. It shows your willingness to learn and ensures you are always on the right path.
  • Attend industry events and webinars to expand your knowledge and stay updated on trends: Stay ahead by participating in events and webinars that can give you fresh perspectives and up-to-date industry knowledge.
  • Commit to continuous learning: Your education doesn’t stop after graduation. Stay curious and constantly seek out new information, whether through courses, reading, or other forms of professional development. Since joining DOCOsoft, I have earned a Diploma in Digital Marketing from UCD Professional Academy and completed multiple HubSpot and Google certification courses.

What are some of the key projects you have worked on during your time at DOCOsoft?

  • New Website: I played a key role in the design and launch of DOCOsoft’s new website, collaborating closely with an external web agency to ensure the site reflected our brand message and catered to the needs of our audience. I actively participated in discussions with stakeholders across the business to finalise the site map, making sure all key departments were represented and their needs were met. Throughout the project, I took on significant responsibilities, including managing snag documents and leading User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to identify and resolve issues. Additionally, I coordinated internal communications to keep all relevant teams informed and aligned during the project.
  • Rebrand: I played a pivotal role in DOCOsoft’s rebranding efforts, working closely with both internal teams and external partners to refresh our visual identity and ensure that it accurately reflected our evolving business goals. This involved collaborating with designers to develop new branding elements, including the logo, colour palette, typography, and overall brand guidelines. I facilitated workshops and meetings with key stakeholders across the company to gather input and ensure alignment on the new brand direction.
  • New Product (DOCOsoft Vew): I played a key role in the naming process and defining the brand DNA for our new product, DOCOsoft Vew. The process involved navigating differing opinions among stakeholders, which I addressed by facilitating workshops and encouraging open collaboration. Through these sessions and market research, we aligned on a name and identity that resonated with our target audience. I also contributed to the marketing launch, developing a strategy that effectively highlighted the product’s unique features and benefits, ensuring a strong and cohesive market introduction.
  • Bermuda: I played a key role in marketing and event coordination for our expansion into the Bermuda market. I was responsible for organising key events and developing targeted emails to support our efforts in establishing a presence in the region. In March, I had the opportunity to visit Bermuda, where I attended the Bermuda Risk Summit, a three-day conference. During my stay, I collaborated with my team to host both a networking event and a product demo session. I also had the opportunity to visit client sites to strengthen relationships and gain valuable insights to further our market strategy.
